Provo UT Daily Herald, Sunday, 2 Apr 2006; Colleen Hurst Baadsgaard passed away Friday, March 31, 2006, at Mountain View Hospital. She was born May 13, 1926, in Logan, Utah, to Pearl Petersen and Clyde Hurst, Sr. She married Alfred Beck Baadsgaard on June 30, 1972, in the Provo Temple. He died in February 1997. Colleen received her education in Logan and attended Utah State University. She moved to Springville, where she lived until 1972. She was a resident of Lake Shore, until her death. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She served a two-year mission to the Eastern States earlier in her life, and also a two-year stake mission. She and her husband, Alfred, served an LDS Employment Mission together. She was employed at the Nebo School District and retired from there. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She considered her greatest blessing to be her husband, Alfred, and their beautiful family. Survivors include nine children: Beverly (Ray) Lewis, Cleo (Don) Cox, Ina Lee (Gerry) Tedrow, Glen (Patty) Baadsgaard, Lynn (LaJeanne) Baadsgaard, Kevin (Jenny) Baadsgaard, Lauri Pratt, Loyd (Betty) Baadsgaard, and Steven Hurst Wiser (his ancestry to Benjamin Wiser Senior, his father, Verl Haslam Wiser, William Harvey Wiser, John Harvey Wiser, John McCormick Wiser, Samuel Wiser, Benjamin Wiser Senior); also a brother, Dr. Clyde F. Hurst; 36 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, her parents, two brothers, Reed M. Hurst and Jerry Hurst, and a daughter-in-law, Rachel Moon Baadsgaard. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 5, at 11 a.m., in the Lake Shore Church, 5916 South 3200 West, Lake Shore. Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork; and, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hearthstone Manor, the doctors and staff at Mountain View Hospital, all those who participated in Colleen's care, and the many friends that visited her. Salt Lake City, UT Deseret News, Tuesday, 25 Apr 2006; Richfield/Manti - Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and best friend, Thora Peterson Madsen Stott, of Richfield and formerly of Manti returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on April 23, 2006, at the age of 85. She was born May 11, 1920, in Fairview, Utah, to Edward Jestin and Maude Stewart Peterson. She married Burnell "Bud" Madsen, July 13, 1936. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1979. They were proud parents of a daughter and a son. She married Girven C. Stott (his ancestry to Benjamin Wiser Senior, his mother, Della Alberta Cunningham Stott, Mary Olive Wiser Cunningham, John McCormick Wiser, Samuel Wiser, Benjamin Wiser Senior), August 31, 1984, in a civil ceremony in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death July 13, 1996. Thora was an active member of the LDS Church, having served in many positions. She served as President of Manti Senior Citizens, was active in DUP and the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked for many years on the Manti South Ward Banquet Committee, helping prepare many dinners, including those for the Mormon Miracle Pageant. She made many beautiful quilts, and was always busy binding a quilt for Relief Society. She was a beautiful and accomplished seamstress. She kept a "spotless" home and there was always a delicious meal prepared. She was meticulous about everything she did. She believed "anything worth doing was worth doing well." She seemed to possess an endless energy. She was a very thoughtful and caring lady, always doing for others. She had a smile and sense of humor, and still had a spirit of optimism in spite of the health problems she suffered in the past five years. Thora is survived by her daughter, Mitzi (Kay) Peterson, Glenwood; son, Kim (Cletah) Madsen, Salt Lake City; sister, Floy (Mack) Munk, Murray; brother, Ted (Mary Beth) Peterson, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; husbands, Bud and Girven; sisters, Theda, Maxie, Connie Rae. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 12:00 noon in the Richfield 10th LDS Ward Chapel, 985 S. 400 W. Friends may call at the ward Chapel on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Manti City Cemetery on Thursday. Worcester, MA Telegram & Gazette, 27 Feb 2006; Belchertown- Dorothy J. Boyd Roccanti, (her ancestry to Benjamin Wiser Senior, her father, Robert Henry Boyd, Adelia Dorleska Cottle Boyd, Amanda Wiser Cottle, Samuel Wiser, Benjamin Wiser Senior), 83, of Chauncey Walker St., died on February 25, 2006 surrounded by her loving family at the Holyoke Soldiers Home after a long illness. Born in Aredale, Iowa, July 31, 1922, she graduated from the Greene High School there. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, settling in Worcester, MA in 1944. Living in Springfield, Wilbraham, Belchertown and moving to Palmer, Alaska in 1989 returning to Belchertown in 1996. Dorothy was a Library Aide for the Springfield School Dept. retiring in 1983. She was a member of the American Legion Post 239 and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church both in Belchertown. She leaves her husband of 57 years, Alfred J. and six children: Susan A. Robinson of Monson, Edward J. of Worcester, Barbara J. Kelleher of Wilbraham, Michael J. of Suffield, CT, Robert B. of Ludlow and Mary Meckling of Port St. John, FL. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren as well as a sister Roberta Barth of Greene, Iowa. Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband Edward J. Roccanti who died in WWII in 1944. A funeral service will be Thursday at 9:15am from the BEERS & STORY BELCHERTOWN FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis Church. Burial will follow in South Cemetery. Calling hours are Wed. from 2:00 –4:00 & 7:00-9:00 pm. Syracuse, NY Post Standard, Saturday, 20 May 2006; May 19, 2006-Leland A. Morse, (his ancestry to Benjamin Wiser Senior, his mother, Pearl Helena Smith Morse, Albert Albro Smith, Elizabeth M. Albro Smith, Sabra S. Morse Albro, Alithea (Alathea) Wiser Morse, Benjamin Wiser Senior), 87, of Mattydale, passed away Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Homer, NY and served with the US Army during WWII. He retired from the West Genesee School District. Leland is survived by his wife of 38 years, Josephine (Scalzo) Morse; a step-son, David Paul (MaryAnn) Crout of Shelton, Ct.; a brother, Malcolm Morse of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Pirro & Sons Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei Church. Burial will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, 514 Turtle St., Syracuse.
