Theodore Wiser was born about 1787 probably in Haverhill, Grafton,
NH. He died about 1839 in JoDaviess County, IL.
SOURCE
CENSUS RECORDS: 1820 Census of Truxton, Cortland, NY. Also probably lived in Veteran’s Township Chemung County, NY, near present-day Elmira. His daughter’s obituary (Prudence) stated that she was born near Elmira in 1817. We still don’t know for sure if Prudence is a daughter.
FURTHER RESEARCH NEEDED: family tradition states that Theodore married his brother Samuel's wife Betsey after Samuel’s death in 1834. Supposedly, Theodore died in JoDaviess County, IL about 1839. Family tradition states they had moved near Galena, IL to find their fortune in the lead mines. After they both died in the same year, the children were given out to various friends of the family.
Theodore married have married
(1) Elisa Hunt. Elisa was born about 1790.
FURTHER RESEARCH NEEDED: There is an Elizabeth Wiser, buried in Wisner Park
Cemetery, Elmira, NY, no data. Towner read stone, Fall, 1875. There is a niece of Theodore’s buried in this cemetery. Elisa Hunt is listed as Prudence’s mother on her death certificate. Father is listed as Mr. Wiser
Theodore married (2) Betsey
(Elizabeth) Babcock daughter of James Babcock and Temperance Decker after
1832. Betsey was born about 1790 probably in Pittsfield, Berkshire, MA. She died
in 1839 in JoDaviess County, IL.

about 1789 probably in Haverhill, Grafton, NH.
FURTHER RESEARCH NEEDED: possibly Maisilva (Marsilla) Wiser, mentioned in
Cazenovia Pilot, 8 Jul 1818, letters left at post office and other documents at the Lorenzo House.

Gerald C. Marris, 77, of 24 Nelson St., Cazenovia, died Wednesday. Born
in Erieville, he attended Cazenovia schools. He formerly worked in the
maintenance department at the Cortland County Sheriff's Department. He worked as
a farm hand. Survivors: A daughter, Diane Marris (Jean Murdent, George Enoch
Murdent, John Scott Murdent, Melissa Ann Albro Murdent, Sabra S. Morse Albro,
Alithea Wiser Morse, Benjamin Wiser) of Cortland; two sisters, Sara Pratt of
Cazenovia and Shirley Onyan of Erieville. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday in Erieville
United Methodist Church. Burial, Erieville Cemetery. Calling hour, 6 to 7 p.m.
today at Tait Funeral Home, 2333 Fenner Road, Cazenovia. Contributions: Crouse

Ruth I. Jacobe Stearns (Charles Jacobe, Cora Albro Jacobe, Andrew J.
Albro, Sabra S. Morse Albro, Alithea Wiser Morse, Benjamin Wiser), 87, of Fenner
Road, Cazenovia, died Saturday. Born in Cortland, she was a life resident of
Cazenovia. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Cazenovia Village Baptist
Church, American Baptist Women, Cazenovia Grange and the Del-Se-Nan-Go Old Tyme
Fiddlers Group. Her husband, Gaylord, died in 1980; a son, Chauncey, died in
1961.Survivors: Two daughters, Carol Plummer of South Otselic and Sally Perry of
Cazenovia; four sons, Terry of Manlius, Allen and Charles, both of Cazenovia,
and Joseph of Champlain, Va.; a sister, Doris Best of DeRuyter; 12
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Richard F.
Ayer Funeral Home. Burial, Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 38 Sullivan St., Cazenovia. Contributions:

2002; Lewiston-Rey L. Wiser (Loren Frost Wiser, Samuel Frost Wiser, John
McCormick Wiser, Samuel Wiser, Benjamin Wiser) passed away Oct. 21, 2002, from
complications of a fall. He died at Sunshine Terrace Nursing Home attended by
many members of his loving family.
Rey was born Feb. 12, 1929, to Eliza King and Loren Frost Wiser of
Lewiston, Utah. He was raised in
Lewiston where he attended Elementary and Junior High School and graduated from
North Cache High in 1947. He served
a mission in The New England State mission from 1949 to 1951. Upon his return, he was drafted into the
Army during the Korean conflict, where he attended officer candidate school and
served six months in Germany. After
full-time military service Rey continued his military career in the Reserves and
retired from that division as a lieutenant colonel. Once he returned home he attended USU
and BYU where he graduated and received his bachelor's of science degree in 1956
in secondary education. He taught
in the Provo District for two years.
He then continued his graduate studies at the U of U where he received
his Elementary Education Certificate.
It was during this time he met his sweetheart. He married Koa Jean Ogden in the Manti
Temple on June 19, 1959. They both
taught in the Weber School District for one year. They then made their home in Lewiston
where they reared seven children.
Rey's mother was a school teacher and as a direct result of her love for
teaching passed that love and desire onto her son. Rey was a school teacher for Cache
County School District for 31 years until his retirement in 1987. He touched and taught many children the
love of learning. Rey was active in
local politics and was a delegate to the Cache County and state conventions for
many years. He was a commander of
the American Legion Post 50 and participated in the Boys State program by
speaking and being a counselor to the boys. He also was president of the Lewiston
Jaycees for three years. He had
great love and awareness of how important it is to be involved in government and
community service. Rey was an
active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many
callings and enjoyed doing temple work for the past three years. Rey had a great love for BYU football
and spent many a happy hour cheering for his favorite team. He was very social and always had a
great tall tale to tell anyone who would like to have a quick laugh. One of Rey's great loves was playing
Rook with his children and grandchildren.
He had a great competitive nature.
Rey is survived by his wife of 43 years, Koa Jean Ogden Wiser, seven
children and their spouses, Paul and Diane Dunn, Hinesville, Ga., Gary and Kris
Wiser, Mountain Green, Utah, Jay and Jean Swann, Murray, Kent and Ruth Ashton,
Lewiston, Matt and Linda Brown, Manhattan, Kan., Nick and Debbie Wilcox, Spanish
Fork, Utah, David and Angela Wiser, Logan, and 27 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers
Kenneth and Lewis Wiser; and sisters, Phyllis Anderson and Inge Hunzeker. He was preceded in death by his parents
and his brother Milton Wiser.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the
Lewiston 4th Ward Chapel, 16 S. Main.
Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen-Hall
Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan, and on Saturday morning at the church prior to
services from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Lewiston
Cemetery.

Duane Fikstad, 71, of Richmond, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, in his
home. He was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Rexburg, Idaho, a son of Gordon and Ellen May
Fikstad. He married Doris Jean Hendricks (Oral Dennis Hendricks, Alla Arminda
Wiser Hendricks, John McCormick Wiser, Samuel Wiser, Benjamin Wiser), May 29,
1953, in Ashton, Idaho. He served four years in the U.S. Army during the Korean
War. He was a logger in Northeast Idaho. He raised his family in Ashton, Idaho,
and has spent the past 15 years in Richmond. He is survived by his wife of
Logan, one son and three daughters, Dennis Duane Fikstad, Virginia, Carla Donn
Larsen, St. Anthony, Idaho, Treena and John Pitcher, Nibley, Tami and James
Owen, Plymouth; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kylee Dawn Owen. Funeral services will be
held Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at noon in the Allen-Hall Mortuary. Friends may call
at the mortuary Monday from 10 to 11:45 am. Interment will be in the East
Garland Cemetery.
Syracuse Post-Herald, Saturday, 23 Nov 2002; Phyllis J. Custer, 53, of Pease Hill Road, Cuyler, died Wednesday. She was born in South Amboy, N.J. She was a mortgage processor for Cortland Savings Bank in Cortland.Survivors: Her husband, Gregory (Janet Marie Rainbow Custer, William Howard Rainbow, Lela Marie Albro Rainbow, William Henry Albro, Joseph G. L. Albro, Sabra S. Morse Albro, Alithea Wiser Morse, Benjamin Wiser); a daughter, Valerie Case of Syracuse; two sons, Vincent Case of Truxton and Derek Case of Belleville, Ill.; her mother, Louise Gerity of Waldorf, Md.; a sister, Christine Lepiscopo of Waldorf; two brothers, Thomas Ambler of Colorado and Charles Ambler of Jackson, N.J.; three grandchildren. Services: 4 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home. Burial, Hillcrest Cemetery. Calling hours, 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, Cortland Street, DeRuyter
