This Indenture made and entered unto this the seventh day of December and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight between JOEL RECTOR of the County of Buncombe and State of North Carolina of the one part & THOMAS RECTOR of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to me in hand paid by the said THOMAS RECTOR, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold & by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said THOMAS RECTOR all of my right, title, & claim and interest in and to the following piece of land situate lying in the County of Buncombe on the west side of French Broad River. Beginning on a beach, the S.E. corner of a hundred acre tract granted to JAMES RECTOR about four poles east of CASE BOTTS branch and runs south forty five degrees west with the JAMES RECTOR line one hundred and sixty five poles to a stake then south as before twenty poles to a stake then south sixty five degrees east one hundred and twenty five poles with a line conveyed by ELIHU RECTOR to GUDGER & PENLAND to a stake the south west corner of the tract that JOEL RECTOR�S wife now lives on, then north with that line one hundred poles to a black oak in a hollow the north west corner of tract, thence east with that line seventy five poles crossing CASE BOTTS branch to a beech the north east corner of the JOEL RECTOR wife tract, then north forty five degrees west eighty five poles to the beginning containing seventy five acres be the same more or less, which said piece or parcel of land to the said JOEL RECTOR doth warrant and defend from myself, my heirs or assigns and no further unto him the said THOMAS RECTOR his heirs or assigns with all the ways, woods, waters, mines, minerals, hereditaments thereunto belonging.
