Tripod Genealogy

Ethleen Tripod was born in Bond Co IL, about 1871. She was the daughter of Paul Tripod and Josephine Short. Ethleen had one brother, Claude Tripod; he was born in 1877.

Ethleen married James R. McCullah on 14 Sep 1904, in Bond Co, IL. They moved to Laton, Fresno Co, California some time before 1908. Their daughter Xenia Viola married Charles Mortimer Randall.

Paul Mark Tripod was born about 1841 in Switzerland. His parents were Jean Samuel Alexander Tripod and Jeanne Julie DuMartheray. His siblings included Antoinette J., Carolyn, Charles Emil, Sophia, A. Gustavus "Gus", (all born in Switzerland) and Henry L. (born 1853 in IL). The family emigrated around 1848-50. They were living in Highland, IL by the time of the census in 1850. By 1860 they had moved to Bond Co IL.

Paul Tripod married Josephine Short on 24 Apr 1870, in Montgomery Co IL.

Josephine Short was born about 1851 in IL. Her parents were Isaac Short and Rebecca Ann Naudain, both from Delaware. Rebecca Ann was Isaac's second wife. His first wife, Cassandra Naudain, died in 1846. Cassandra and Rebecca Ann were sisters. Their parents were Elias Naudain and Cassandra Fields.

Cassandra Fields was the only child of Allen Fields of Appoquinimink Hundred, DE; Allen's parents were Abraham Fields and Mary Chance of DE. Mary Chance's parents were Alexander Chance and Elizabeth Griffin of Duck Creek Hundred, DE. Elizabeth's parents were Samuel and Lydia Griffin.

Elias Naudain's father was Elias Naudain of DE; his parents were Andrew and Susan Naudain of DE; Andrew's parents were Elias Naudain and Lydia LeRoux. Lydia was born around 1694 in New York. Lydia's parents were Peter Le Roux, from Amsterdam, and Alida Vryman, b 1674 in NY. Alida's father was Thomas Vryman.

Rebecca Ann Naudain's great great great grandparents were Elie (Elias) Naudain and Jahel/Jael Arnaud, Huguenots who emigrated from La Tremblade, France, to London, England in 1682. Elie was born in France in 1655, and died in England in 1685. In 1686, after Jahel's husband died, she emigrated from there to the Narragansett Colony, Rhode Island, a place known for religious tolerance. There she married Jacob Ratier in 1889. Elie and Jahel's son Elias was born in France about 1680; Elias emigrated with his parents to England, then with his mother to Rhode Island; they moved to New York around 1691. He married Lydia LeRoux in 1715, and they had moved to DE by 1717.
