Back to top On 21 June 1825, William Hawleyowned property Shaftsbury, Bennington, Vermont. 53 acres and 4 tons of hay was seized and sold for non payment of judgement that had been awarded to Samuel Niles, White Creek, Washington County, New York. (5 Aug 2005 I am not sure that this is our William. However, it could explain why he would have left Vermont for New York.).1
