Hazel Kerk Murphy Wiesjahn (1891-1954) left a handwritten history of the Pulaski County, Indiana Murphy family. The black, leather-bound, composition notebook is replete with sketches of their houses; the Mooresburg store, church, and school; the Mill Creek Bridge; and even the phaeton of which Aunt Rachel was so fond. Hazel also recorded Fannie Graffis’ reminiscences of the Murphys. Fannie, born in 1868, was the granddaughter of Nathan Hunt Murphy & Martha Barbara Kerr. Hazel, Fannie’s first cousin once removed, was the great-granddaughter of Nathan & Martha Barbara.

The Tippecanoe River flows under the Mill Creek Bridge.
Following is a transcription of Hazel Kerk Murphy's "Across the Years, A Story of Our Ancestors."

Second cousins William Hancock (1823-1897) and Osburn Lamar Wilson (1825-1913) were the grandsons of sisters Jane & Sarah Skeen. The boys’ great-grandparents were Matthew Skeen & Ruth Lamar. William was a Harrison County, Indiana boy while Osburn Lamar grew up in neighboring Washington County. William penned a letter to his cousin while Osburn (along with his brother Ollie Skeen Wilson) was serving with the American forces during the Mexican War.

The Blue River connects them - boys and counties.
The transcribed letter follows.
