RIEDINGER'S ROOTS
|
Welcome ! We are Arlene and Joe Riedinger and we would like to thank you for taking the time to visit us. As you may have guessed the primary purpose of this site is our interest in genealogy and adding to our family tree. We hope you enjoy your visit and find it filled with pictures most of you have never seen and information many of you do not know. |
Although my Riedinger ancestors came originally from Oberotterbach/Kandel Germany my great, great, great grandfather Johannes Nikolaus Riedinger with his wife Theresia (Nee Ring) and son Franz left Germany in 1809 to settle in Russia lured by the promises laid out in the manifesto of Catherine the Great. They settled in Landau in the Beresan district of Odessa in the spring of 1810. Four generations later, having endured many hardships and watched the promises of the manifesto be reversed and negated, my great grandfather John Leonard Riedinger his wife Isabella (nee Stein) and their children Joseph, Harold, George (my grandfather) , Walter, Nick, Monica, and Alex left Russia for America. |
My paternal great grandparents John Leonard Riedinger 1855-1938 born in Landau BDO Russia and Isabella Stein Riedinger also born in Russia. They departed Russia via Liverpool on the Steam Ship Mount Temple on September 29, 1903 settling in Mandan, North Dakota in the same year. |
George Riedinger 1880-1962 born in Landau BDO Russia and Rosa Flink Riedinger 1881-1964 born in Katherinetal BDO Russia. My Grandparents. This picture was taken on their 50th wedding anniversary (April 4, 1954) in the back yard of their home at 403 North 6th Avenue in Yakima, Washington. |
