Census

Descendants of Dennis Springer and Ann Prickett

There are about 1,000 census lookups needing to be done before we can publish. Please know that I am placing couples on the census list only if there is essential information to be found. We are not trying to find each family in every census. The soundex entry is sufficient for my needs.

We need census read for the following states

California Colorado Idaho

Thank you Loretta Goodwin
for sending several Pike Co, Ill. census!!!

Illinois Indiana Iowa
Kansas Kentukcy Minnesota
Missouri Nebraska Ohio
Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania
Souith Dakota Tennessee Virginia
Washington West Virginia Wisconsin

Please email me and let me know that you can read some census. I will return a list to you, based on your speifications. I can provide the Soundex code for you. With so much work to do we want to prevent duplication.

It is our experience that 4 is the largest number of possibilities we have ever found for a couple on the census list. You simply copy off all the possibilities. I will sort out which is correct when your copy is compared with the computer database.

My list is set-up this way

Head of household /spouse my database code
OR
Soundex code Head of household /spouse my database code

For example, this listing of Teller, William/Sarah Ann JM449

means that when searching the 1850 Indiana index look for William Teller, then copy off the family that has as the head of household William Teller with a wife named Sarah Ann.

If we are searching the 1900 Arkansas soundex for L142 Lovelace, James/Melinda HM33

simply copy off all the James Lovelace with wife Melinda. (The numbers at the end of the line, JM449 and HM33, are my coding for where this particular family is location in the huge Springer database.
