Back after an absence of several years due to illness
Am FINALLY updating my web site. It will take time to complete, but am adding and updating stories , so please come back and visit from time to time
Millicent Read in her book "The Hills of Newton County", said it best:
"If you are weary of endless prattle, empty words, harsh noises, selfishness, people so engrossed in their ego that they cannot see the loneliness and emptiness of another's life...if you seek refuge where there is peace and joy, come to me.....The Hills of Newton County".
My husband Kenneth Flood was born in Newton County near Mt. Judea on the Little Henry Smith Place, on a cold, cold December day. He was delivered by "Doc" Sexton.
Ken always talked about returning to live in Newton County when he retired. But, alas, Ken died so very young after a long illness.
Ken learned to hunt and fish while growing up there. Loved to go coon hunting and usually had hound dogs. In fact, we got a male bluetick hound called "Smoky" and a female hound "Belle" for a wedding present.
He was an avid hunter and a great fisherman. He taught many younger men how to hunt and fish.
Have gone deer and bear hunting with him many times. We loved the mountains and streams.
One time I was with him coon hunting. You were not allowed to have a gun at that time but he had his sling-shot with him. With one shot he knocked the racoon out of the tree so his dogs could "tree" it again. Could not believe that someone could use a sling shot so well.
Ken was a crack shot with a rife and pistol too and taught his family how to use guns safely.
I always tried to go deer hunting with him and would take my easel and paintbrushes to draw and paint while he hunted. We went with the same group of people each year.
Many of Ken's kinfolks still live in Newton County. Ken was related
to nearly all the older families there. That is why I have gathered so much information on Northern Arkansas families in my family research.
My beloved father-in-law Lee Flood told me that Ken could not marry
anyone from Newton County as they were all related. Thought he was
teasing me, but oh how true it turned out to be.
Can connect the Floods\Fluds to almost every family in and around
Newton County area in some way.
Take a look at the surnames page and you will find many of my husbands kinfolks

those who have needs.

right at home. What caring, kind people live in Newton County.

Have had several "Genealogy Angels" help me in my genealogy search. If it were not for these " Angels ", I would not have found valuable information on my grandfather's family and many other kinfolks.
Mainly in gratitude for the help that others have given me in my quest
for my ancestors, I want to help others in their search for their kinfolk.
