William
Rogers
(actor) c1806-1876
I am looking for William ROGERS. He stated he was born in
Shoreditch
in 1857/1858, supposedly the son of William Rogers whose occupation was
given as 'theatrical'.
I have been unable to identify either of the William's in the 1881
or any prior census. William snr was apparently deceased when
William
married Catherine Woll (aka Wool) in Coventry in 1886.
William and Catherine's daughter Alice was born in Coventry on 22nd
July 1886. By 1891 they were living in Hucknall, Notts where William
was working as a miner. It was here that another daughter,
Ellen was born.
William and Catherine returned to Coventry and in 1898 Catherine gave
birth to their first son, Robert Dennis was born.
Young Ellen died
in Coventry in 1900 age 9, just a few months before the birth of her
younger brother
William. Tragedy struck again in 1901 when Alice also died.
The following year, in April 1902 their father, William died in
Coventry,
at the age of 44, from a weakened heart.
In 1903 his widow married Robert Wilkinson at Cross Cut, Radford.
Robert and Catherine Wilkinson had one daughter, whom they named Rhoda.
