Cyrus was a private with Company F, which was known as the Greenbrier Sharpshooters, with the 27th Virginia
Infantry during the Civil War. The 27th Infantry, along with the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 33rd regiments comprised the
famed "Stonewall Brigade" under the command of General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. These troops participated
in many engagements, including: 1st Manassas; Kernstown; 2nd Manassas; Sharpsburg; Fredricksburg; Chancellorsville;
Gettysburg; The Wilderness; Spotsylvania Court House; Cold Harbor; Monocacy; and Appomattox Court House.

George Washington and Jane McClung Crane; d. 31 Mar 1886 (Gr D, 1853-97).
Cyrus Rupert McClung and Rebecca Ann Crane were second cousins. Her mother Jane McClung Crane was the daughter of
Joseph McClung and Jane Cavendish McClung. They had eight children. Cyrus died 7 June 1898 in Greenbrier Co. WV.

Park Walker McClung was a jeweler by profession. He was also a music teacher and a choir leader of the church they
attended in Sprague. All the children, with the exception of the younger children, learned to play one or more
instruments and sing from their father. By the time the younger children had grown old enough to learn, their
father had become almost deaf. The children of this family were so naturally musically inclined they all were
involved in some for or another in music. Even the younger children who did not have the benefit of the training
by their father learned to play an instrument on their own or were vocalist, often singing and playing for local
fairs, benefits, and radio stations.

By 1920 they were living in Loudon District, Charleston WV on Ferry Branch Road. By 1930
Arminta had remarried to a John O. Nelson of Winona, Fayette Co., WV. (Researcher:

was sent by her granddaughter Helen Barnes. Helen
spells the name 'Arminta' and wrote the date of Feb
1946 on the clipping as the date of Arminta's passing
Mrs. W.F. Wilson Taken by Death - Funeral services for
Mrs. Armintia McClung Wilson, 77, were held at 2:30
Monday afternoon from the First Baptist church in
Louisa with the Rev. J.C. Hager officiating. Burial
was made in the Pine Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson, a resident of Louisa for 58 years, died
at her home at 11 o'clock Friday night following an
illness with pneumonia and heart trouble for ten days.
Her husband, William F. Wilson, preceded her in death
on March 16, 1941. The daughter of the the late M. L.
and Martha McClung, Mrs. Wilson came here from
Greenbriar county, W. Va., and taught in the public
schools here for two years. She has been a member of
the Baptist church since girlhood.
Honorary pall bearers were members of the Bethany
Sunday School class of which she was a member and Dr.
J. E. Carter.
Active pall bearers were Comdr. Daryl S. McClung, Paul
Copley, Dick Wilson, Claude Wilson, Carmie Wilson and
Andy D. See.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A. H. Owen of
Huntington, W.Va., Mrs. E. R. Collins of Detroit,
Mich.; two sons, L. M. 'Red' Wilson of Orlando, Fla.,
and James Wilson of St. Albans, W.Va.; one sister,
Mrs. N. S. Slack of Handley, W.Va.; two brothers, Dr.
J. L. McClung of Huntington, W.Va., and A. O. McClung
of Kenova, W.Va.; ten grandchildren and 13 great grand
children.

C. to the middle) 1st wife was Esther Ida Riffe (grandmother of Caroline Zobeck, researcher). They
had a daughter Alice Kathryn Zeigler. Claude Herman Zeigler d. 11/30/1985 in Nitro,
WV and was survived by his 3rd wife Pansy Womack. Herman's good qualities were that he was very handsome
and a very talented craftsman. Herman Zeigler had a 2nd wife. They had no children
and lived in Delaware. He and his 3rd wife, Pansy Womack Zeigler had 1 child together - James Herman

Pansy W. Zeigler, 79, of Nitro died Nov. 8, 1998, in
Memorial Division, CAMC, after a short illness.
She was a retired licensed practical nurse from Thomas
Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, a member of the
Mary B Sewing Club and Highlawn Baptist Church, St.
Albans.
Surviving: daughter, Norma Robertson of Pikeville,
Ky.; son, James Herman Zeigler; sister, Madge P.
Graham of Hurricane; brother, Lee Womack of
Barboursville; five grandchildren; one
great-grandchild.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Casdorph & Curry

Mrs. Mona May Slack, 85 of 714 South Kanawha Ave.,
Nitro, formerly of Handley, was dead on arrival
Saturday at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a sudden
illness.
She was a member of the Handley Baptist Church and a
resident of Handley for 50 years.
Surviving: nephew, C. Herman Zeigler of Nitro with
whom she made her home and several other nieces and
nephews.
Service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the B.C. Hooper
Funeral Home in Montgomery with the Rev. Randolph
Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery
Memorial Park at London.

he was married to Mary Annah Ellison 9 Apr 1903 in Boomer, WV. She was born
23 Aug. 1887 in Dubee, WV. She was from Glen Carbon Ill. in St.Clair county
Ill. She divorced Ladula (Debbie's grandfather) and moved back to IL with her
grandfather Melvin Ladula Mcclung and his sister, Violet McClung.
Ladula remarried a lady named Ollie, and they also had children. Their names were,Jessie,
a girl and two sons named Frankie and Johnie McClung. Some of them still live in West Virginia.
Ladula died 22 Dec 1958 and is buried in Lebanon, Illinois.
