The fifth child of John and Polly Kinkead Caldwell was born 29 Oct 1808 in Missouri
Territory. He married Joanna Williams 25 Feb 1830 (Franklin Co. Mg Bk A lists him as
"Short").
Reigny became a minister at the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Gasconade County. He lived
there from 1852 to 1857 where he performed marriages for a dozen couples.
There is an R. S. Caldwell with wife Joann listed in the 1850 census of Crawford Co., MO; by 1860 the
family was in Washington County.
Joanna Williams Caldwell was buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Crawford County, Missouri.
The youngest female child appears on the 1860 Washington Co., Mo. census as Sarah, 12 yrs, with Short and
2nd wife, Sarah Nancy Kelly Caldwell (m. Crawford Co. 2 May 1858, 2nd Marr. Bk, p. 78). Sarah and R.S.D.
had 2 sons: Thomas D. b. 1860 and James Langdon b. 1862.
The 1870 Census of Crawford County, Courtois twp p618 Cuba P.O. gives: Short Caldwell age 61;
Sarah C age 43; Thomas D age 10; James age 8. (donated by Muriel Dodson).
7-5-1. John M. C. Caldwell, a child of Reigny and Joanna. He was born 16 Dec 1830 in Franklin County, MO.
He married Eliza Sewell on 1 Dec 1852. He had 5 children:
By 1900 Crawford Co Oak Hill twp: John C. Caldwell age 69, b. Dec 1830, widower; Joseph L., son, age 35,
widower; Benjamin H. grandson age 11; George A. grandson, age 10. So Eliza had died and Joseph had
been married and his wife had died. (Donated by Muriel Dodson).
Also in the 1900, we find perhaps the family of one of his other children next door: Elizabeth Caldwell b.

(female); Fannie 5.
Obit states:
John M.C. Caldwell, who has been sick for some time with Bright's disease, died Monday night at the home of Al
Sewell in Cuba. . . The funeral was conducted Tuesday morning and the body was taken to Oak Grove Cemetery near Lane's

The third child of RSD and Joanna Williams Caldwell was born 12 Nov 1834 in Franklin County, MO. He
married Malinda Lundsford Hensley. He died 20 Aug 1883. Researcher: Mickey Spindler.

He died in Chandler, OK 27 Apr 1904. Thomas married (Maggie) Margaret Bullock, daughter of Andrew Jackson

The ninth son of RSD and with 2nd wife, Sarah Nancy Kelly Caldwell, was born 18 Nov 1862, probably in
Washington Co., MO. He died in Laverne, OK, 7 Feb 1926.
