The fifth child of Samuel Caldwell and his first wife was born 12 Dec 1777 in Virginia. This
record was furnished to us by George Caldwell of Williamsville, Ill. in 1967. It has no
doubt been better documented by now.
Walter married Mary Breckenridge in Bath Co., KY in Dec 1799. She was born in VA 23 Sept 1778,
the dau. of Robert and Mary Doak Breckenridge of Montgomery Co., Virginia. The marriage in Bath Co.in 1799
cannot be correct because Bath was not formed until 1811 from Montgomery County. That record should
be in Montgomery County.
The 1810 Census of Nicholas County shows Walter and Mary with an older man living with them. It is possible that this was Walter's father or Mary's father. In 1820 they are found in Bath County. Robert Breckenridge died in Bath County in 1814 and names Polly Caldwell in his will.
Walter and Mary left Bath Co., KY and settled at New London, MO in Ralls County before 1830. He was a Major of the
Militia and a county judge. Mary died 28 Sep 1841. (by James Malcolm Breckenridge, 1932:127)

The other male in the home of Green V. could represent the missing brother. The categories on ages seem
to fit with the exception of this one child as yet unidentified. Larue was married by 1821. It appears
that there was another son who lived to maturity. Green died shortly after this 1830 census was taken.
