The first child of Jeremiah (I-1) and Nancy (Griffin)
Sweaney was born about 1813 in North Carolina. About 1828 the
family moved to Tennessee.
He may have married in Polk Co., MO. He married about 1836
to Myra Emily Catherine Blackard. They were residing in Polk Co.
in the 1840 census with a son and dau. aged less than five. Also
with them was a male of the same age group as Levi so it may have
been his brother. A search needs to be done in Polk Co. Records.
Levi and Myra Emily had at least nine children born between
1832 and 1862. They are in Dallas Co. in the 1850 census. This
family left for California during the gold rush. They first
settled at the gold camp of Mud Springs in El Dorado County and
later were at Fiddletown, Amador Co.
In 1860 Emily is listed in the Dallas Co., MO census with
children: Eliza b. 1832 in MO; Nancy b. 1841; James b. 1843; John
b. 1845; Ann b. 1847; Rufus b. 1850; in MO and Charlotta b.
1854 in MO. Perhaps George W. was in Calif. at this time with
his father.
Levi Woodson died about 1878 at Wright's Station in Santa
Clara Co., CA.
