Generation No. 1

It is believed that CHRISTOPHER BENTICK SANCHO, JOHN SANCHO and TUCKNESS SANCHO, were birthed in England. They migrated to the Americas, arrived and settled in the Golden Grove and Nabaclis community at some period prior to January 5, 1848. Their parents, siblings, and other relatives are not known at this juncture.

October, 1873, John Sancho of the Parish of St. Paul, was the Village Overseer of Golden Grove and Nabaclis Village District. However, most accounts indicated John Sancho had such an overwhelming desire for female companionship. Thus, the reason John Sancho would often relocate. John Sancho finally abandoned British Guiana. It is believed John Sancho settled down, married Elizabeth and raised a family in Fifth Company Village, Moruga, in Trinidad.  Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth (nee Sancho) Archer whose mother is a Miss Weatherspoon - is the only child of John Sancho born in British Guiana, whom has been identified to date.

By 1888, Miss Catherine Elizabeth Sancho was Primary school teacher employed at Golden Grove Wesleyan School, and is very likely the first known Sancho to be employed in the field of Education. Catherine Elizabeth Sancho on August 9, 1888 married THOMAS ARTHUR ARCHER (born April 1,1862, Vergenoegen, West Coast Demerara, British Guiana; died October 10, 1943, 51 Robb & Albert Streets, Bourda, Georgetown, British Guiana.) Schoolmaster, and Agricultural Instructor, J.P. and Chairman of the Vergenoegen District Council.
