Son of William Galen and Laura Belle [Evans] Adamson, born Easton, Leavenworth County, KS Feb. 10, 1877, died Parsons, Labette County, KS Feb. 28, 1945, buried Oakwood Cemetery, Parsons, KS(1). He married 1. Easton, Leavenworth County, KS Apr. 1, 1900 ADDIE ESTELLE HULET daughter of Samuel Sloan and Lucy Ann [Bishop] Hulet born June 22, 1878, died Wathena, Doniphan County, KS Feb. 12, 1904 giving birth to stillborn twins, buried Langley Cemetery, Easton, Leavenworth County, KS, married 2. Parsons, Labette County, KS Dec. 30, 1916 ETHEL GRIMES daughter of Nimrod Capel and Emma [Gamble] Grimes born Apr. 21, 1886.

Claude received a Leavenworth County Teachers Certificate to teach third grade July 7, 1894 at the age of 17. He received a two year Leavenworth County Certificate to teach second grade July 27, 1895. He was recertified for an additional two years April 24, 1897 and again for one year in April 29th 1899. He studied German at Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, MO High School in 1898 where he graduated. In 1896-97 he taught school in District 45 of Leavenworth County, KS at a salary of $40.00 per month. in 1899-1900 he taught school in Leavenworth County District 14 again at a salary of $40.00 per month(2) and was married at the end of this school year.

He attended college at Campbell College, Holton, Jackson County, KS. He was certified July 6, 1903 by the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Assistant Pharmacist taking his early training under Jacob Miller at Wathena, Doniphan, KS and was certified July 26, 1904 as a Registered Pharmacist. After Addie died in 1904 he went to Parsons, Labette County, KS for work as a pharmacist at the W. C. McKee Drug Store.

In 1909 he purchased what had been known as the Opera House Drug Store in Parsons and moved it to Winchester, Jefferson County, KS near Easton, Leavenworth County, KS where he was in business until the spring of 1913. He sold the business and went on the road as a sales representative for a drug physician's supply house. He returned to Parsons in 1916, took employment with A. E. Smalley and married Ethel Grimes. He worked for A. E. Smalley until 1919 when he and Mr. W. C. McKee purchased a drug store known as the Red Cross Pharmacy about one block east of the KATY Rail Road passenger terminal where he remained until 1942 becoming known as "Dad" to generations of young people. In 1942 he relocated the Red Cross Pharmacy diagonally across the street where he remained in business until he died. During many of these years, his son Sloan, assisted and supported him in the business.

Claude was a member of Easton Masonic Lodge No. 45, AF&AM Royal Arch of Parsons, the Masonic Council of Independence, Montgomery County, KS, the Commandery in Parsons and the state Pharmaceutical association. He was very active in Masonic affairs and was Past High Priest in the Commandery.(3)

NAOMI IZORA BRIDGEMAN daughter of Jefferson and Luna [Miller] Bridgeman, married 2. Parsons, Labette County, KS May 16, 1940 ETHEL LORENE SMITH daughter of Owen C. and Hattie A. [Bishop] Smith born Parsons, Labette County, KS Dec. 19, 1905. Lives Las Cruces, Dona Ana County, NM. Children by first marriage; Patricia Sue Adamson born Eldon, Wapello County, IA Mar. 15, 1928, married Olathe, Johnson County, KS Mar. 23, 1946 Corwin Lee Tracy; Nancy Joann Adamson born Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, KS Jan. 28, 1930, married Chattanooga, Hamilton County, TN Sept. 6, 1953 Frank Kelly Love. Children by second marriage; Frederick Sloan Adamson born Salt Lake City, Davis County, UT Nov. 5, 1944 Marie Anntonette Willers; Sandra Elaine Adamson "Sandy" born Parsons, Labette County, KS Aug. 24, 1946, married Seattle, King County, WA May 31, 1969 Carl Joseph Occhialini.

2. LAURA ARLENE ADAMSON "Arlene" born Wathena, Doniphan County, KS, July 30, 1902, died at home of her son, Robert Stancliff, Cincinnati, Hamilton County, OH. Dec. 13, 1983, married GLENN WILLARD STANCLIFF.
