ABRAM ARGENBRIGHT

Son of Philip and Naomi [Cox] Argenbright born Jackson or Ross County, OH(1), Mar. 20, 1822, died Ross County, OH Jan. 5, 1908, married Ross County, OH Oct. 21, 1841, SUSANNAH TWEED daughter of Jesse and Rachel [Hixson] Tweed, born Oct. 20, 1820, died May 30, 1876.

In 1850 this family lived Harrison Township, Vinton County, OH(2). Since Harrison Township was one of those appropriated from Jackson County when Vinton County was established in 1850, it is probable that the family lived on the same land during the transition of County boundaries.

AULT daughter of William Jr and Elizabeth [Jones] Ault born Ross County, OH Nov. 9, 1848, died Pottawatomie County, KS Dec. 16, 1929.

3. MAHLON ARGENBRIGHT born 1846, not living 1928, married Vinton County, OH, Sept. 22, 1867 CYNTHIA CLARK.

4. MARY ARGENBRIGHT born Harrison Township, Jackson County, now Vinton County, OH May 15, 1848, died Wyoming, Essex Township, Stark County, IL Jun. 16, 1928, buried Wyoming Cemetery, married Vinton Co OH Sept. 30, 1866 ANANIAS TIMMONS son of Thomas and Mary Jane [Davis] Timmons, born Wyoming, Essex Township, Stark County, IL, Mar. 9, 1840 died Wyoming, Essex Township, Stark County, IL Nov. 6, 1914 buried Wyoming Cemetery.(4) The mother of Ananias Timmons, Mary Jane Davis, was a sister of Martha Caroline [Davis] Stancliff, who was the mother of William Perry Stancliff.

5. MARTHA ARGENBRIGHT born July 23, 1850 Harrison Township, Vinton County, OH, died Apr. 19, 1880, married Aug. 10, 1870 IRVIN M. DIXON born May 11, 1849.

6. EMELINE ARGENBRIGHT born Harrison Township, Vinton County, OH April 14, 1854, died De Nova, Washington County, CO, April 24, 1934(5), buried Tobias Cemetery, Tobias, Saline County, NE, married Wyoming, Stark County, IL Oct. 28, 1875 by William Walters, Minister of the Congregational Church WILLIAM PERRY STANCLIFF son of Perry and Martha Caroline [Davis] Stancliff(6). Lived Tobias, Saline County, NE

7. HENRY ARGENBRIGHT born 1857 Harrison Township, Vinton County, OH. Not living 1928.

8. RACHEL ARGENBRIGHT died Apr. 11, 1859 � 4 months 9 days

9. SARAH LUCY ARGENBRIGHT born 1861, married JESSE MOFFITT living 1928 in Odell, Gage County, NE 40 miles South East of Tobias, Saline County, NE.

10. ELTING ARGENBRIGHT born Oct. 10, 1863 died July 13, 1941 bur Wyoming Cemetery, Essex Township, Stark County, IL married NELLIE L. DUNLAP of Canton, IL, daughter of T. C. Dunlap born Feb. 15, 1871 died May 21, 1956.

HISTORY OF HOCKING VALLEY, OHIO, page 1335, Harrison Township, (T9, R19) was in Ross County 1798-1818, it was in Jackson County (created 1816) in 1818, it again was part of Ross County and finally in 1850 it became a part of Vinton County when that County was created. After the loss of Harrison Township (R9, T19), Ross County established about 1822-23 a second Harrison Township (T9, R20), in Ross County.
