(80) SARAH5 STANCLIFF "Sally" (James4, James3, William2, James1)

Daughter of James and Mary [Russell] Stancliff died Ledyard, Cayuga County, NY Aug. 3, 1816, married as his second wife, ANDREW BENEDICT, son of Nathaniel and Anah [Raymond] Benedict born Norwalk, Fairfield County, CT Jun. 21, 1772, died Ledyard, Cayuga County, NY Sept. 23, 1853, buried there at Fleming Rural Cemetery next to his brother, Uriah, and wife.

Andrew Benedict moved from CT to Scipio or Ledyard, Cayuga County, NY in 1798, and was followed by his brother Uriah at a later date. Sally [Stancliff] Benedict joined the Congregational Church at Lisle, NY Jan. 3, 1802.

The farm of Andrew Benedict was described as "65 Acres located in Lots # 21 and 14 of the Cayuga Reservation bounded-

East-Land of Benjamin Gould and Uriah Benedict

West-Land recently sold by me to Henry Hoyt

South-The highway leading from Dr. Hurd's to the sd lake road"

Andrew had by his first wife six children, one of whom was a daughter, Susan Benedict, who married John Boughton, son of John and Currance [Garret] Boughton and they moved to Ohio. Currance [Garret] Boughton was the natural child of Abigail [Stanclift] Downs, an Aunt of Sally [Stancliff] Benedict.

CHILDREN: Andrew and Sally [Stancliff] Benedict

1. ROTHILDA LOUISA BENEDICT born June 22, 1818, married WASHINGTON NICHOLS died St Charles, Kane County, IL. not mentioned in Distribution, she was probably deceased by 1853.

2. JAMES N. BENEDICT born July 1, 1820, died at Hospital on the Potomac. He had been a Private in a Volunteer Regiment during the Civil War, married 1. BETSEY INGERSOLL married 2. Nov.21, 1867 ERNELINE J. WEED. After his death, his widow remarried. Probate records indicate that he and a half brother, George, were living Kane County, IL in 1853, specified as a child of Andrew.
