Charles was a Cheese Maker of Friendship, Allegany County, NY(1) at the time of their marriage. After their marriage they are said to have lived in that same area, within a ten mile diameter circle encompassing the towns of Friendship, Belmont and Cuba, all in Allegany County, NY. Charles' father David W. Dickens appeared in Friendship Township on the family farm in the 1920 Census. He was aged 75, a widower, and living with a single son named Arthur L. Dickens aged 45(2).
