                                                     JOHN GORE FAMILY

(113) ANNA5 STANCLIFT (Eldah4, Josiah3, William2, James1)

Daughter of Eldah and Lydia [Ellsworth] Stanclift born Halifax, Windham County, VT Feb. 25, 1799(1), married 1. at Halifax, Windham County, VT by Darius Bullock JP and Town Clerk April 16, 1818 JOHN GORE(2), the younger brother of the woman that her father had married the week before. Her step mother was also her sister in law. John Gore was son of Amos and Lydia [Carpenter] Gore.

They left Vermont with other members of the Gore family and in 1830 John and Anna lived in Kirtland Township, Geauga County, OH. The area is now Kirtland, Lake County, OH. They lived next to John's widowed mother, Lydia Gore, his brother-in-law Tarbell Gates and his brother Ebenezer Gore. At this date they had a son aged 10-15, a son 5-10, and a son under 5, a daughter 5-10 and a daughter under 5 years of age(3).

In 1838 one Hiram Dayton purchased a farm in Kirtland Township, but he evidently did not remain in the area long after that. He sold this farm to John Gore who owned it "several years" and the ownership of the farm was in other hands by 1847(4).

The Gore manuscript by Theodore W. Gore says that Anna survived her husband and married 2. Mr. ____ SAWYER.
