Daughter of Chester Haven and Sarah Eliza [Gore] Stancliff born Indianola, Warren County, IA Jul. 20, 1856, died Jun. 15, 1929, married Sept. 25, 1876 MILO SHIPLEY HEWES(1) born Mannington, Marion County, WV June 3, 1849, died Eureka, Eureka, CA Feb. 8, 1940, son of Shipley and Elizabeth R. [Sullivan] Hewes.(1) (Information on Milo from URL of John Hewes.)

In the 1880 Census they were enumerated in a house with Ella's father, sisters Elma and Uletta and the family of her sister Ida Strader(2), but their children were not present. In her father's obituary in 1908 she was said to be living in Oklahoma.

2. EMORY L. HEWES born Apr. 30, 1879, died Dec. 30, 1879.

3. MAUD E. HEWES born Feb. 20, 1880, married Jan. 7, 1900 JAMES P. SIMMON.

4. TINA ELMIRA HEWES born Lincoln Center, Lincoln County, KS Feb. 17, 1883(3), married July 3, 1900 ELUM F. HEWES. They had daughter Rosamond P. Hewes born Feb. 27, 190_.

5. EARL W. HEWES born Jan. 26, 1886.

6. SANFORD L. HEWES born May 26, 1899.
