STEPHEN MILES STANCLIFF married MARTHA JORDAN

JOHN JORDAN(1)

Son of Charles and Elizabeth or Isabelle(2) [Lyons] Jordan born near Zanesville, Muskingum County, OH Feb. 20, 1832, died Stark County, IL Feb. 2, 1901, married Jackson County, OH Jan. 27, 1856 FRANCES E. McGRAW(3) daughter of Alexander and Nancy [Speakman] McGraw of Vinton County, OH born there May 3, 1837, died Stark County, IL Feb. 17, 1907.

His parents had come from Pennsylvania and had lived for a time in Muskingum and Vinton, OH before moving to Stark County, IL about 1857.

John served in Company B, Seventh Illinois Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He was very active in local civic affairs.

CHILDREN: John and Martha [McGraw] Jordan

1. SARAH JORDAN born 1857, died Oct. 29, 1862 � 5 years, 11 months, and 6 days, buried Wyoming Cemetery.

2. JULIA E. JORDAN born 1858, died 1939, buried Wyoming Cemetery, married WILLIAM T. DITMAN or DITMON born 1849, died 1932, buried Wyoming Cemetery, a farmer of Valley Township.

3. MARTHA JORDAN born 1860, died Valley Township, Stark County, IL Feb. 5, 1881 � 21 years, 20 days shortly after the birth of her first child(4), married Wyoming, IL by Rev. William Walters Feb. 21, 1878 STEPHEN MILES STANCLIFF, witnesses to the ceremony were Charles Mc Corkle and Eliza Ennis(5) She is buried near her parents in the Wyoming Cemetery along with the infant girl, Eva May Stancliff(6)

4. ROBERT C. JORDAN who was in the Lumber business in Toulon Township and a grain buyer in Burlington, Des Moines County, IA

5. LAVIN E. JORDAN, lived at home.
