EZEKIAL LEWIS FAMILY
Daughter of James and Mary [Lewis] Stanclift baptized South Britain, Southbury, CT May 28, 1769(1), died Norfolk, CT 1858(2), married Oxford Society by Rev. David Brounson Sept. 30, 1790 1. GIDEON H. BOOTH(3) son of Gideon Booth and an unknown first wife baptized South Britain, Southbury, Litchfield County, CT Dec. 18, 1755(4), died May 14, 1803(5). She married 2. as third wife June 1805 EZEKIEL LEWIS(6) of South Britain son of Ezekiel Sr and Sarah [Wait] Lewis, who died May 1824. Hannah Lewis was living in 1848 in Canaan, CT probably with son, Marcus, where she wrote her will(7) appointing Marcus Lewis of Canaan to be her Executor. The will written at Canaan, CT July 15, 1848 was proved May 8, 1858 at Norfolk, CT.
Hannah's second husband, Ezekiel Lewis saw extensive service in the Army during the Revolution, but even though he was an officer and had an illustrious career, his widow, Hannah [Stancliff] Booth Lewis, applied for and received in 1849 a "widow's pension" by virtue of her first marriage by which she had no children.
