PARLEY J. FOSTER

Parley John Foster, son of Eliab and Martha (Clark) Foster was born in Salem, Wisconsin, December 15, 1858, and died at his home in Roberts,Illinois, Monday morning, February 3rd [1942], aged 83 years, 2 months and 19 days.

Parley came to Illinois with his parents when he was eight years old. He grew to adulthood here and this has been his home during the 75 years that have passed since that time. except for a short time when he visited various parts of the west and during this short period lived in various western communities. However, his home has been here during practicall all his life. When he first came to this vicinicty Roberts was still some in the future.

Mr. Foster married Miss Anna Bingham and to them were born two children. These are Mrs. Fern West of Washington D.C. and Dewayne Foster of Topeka, Kansas. He is also survived by two sisters, Miss Leda Foster of Roberts and Mrs. Frances Ruedger of Carson City, Michigan. He also leaves two grandchildren, John West and James Foster. Five brothers and eight sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Foster was a man who made friends with those whith whom he came in contact. He was always symthetic with the sorrows of others and ready with a willing hand to assist any and all who were in need.

funteral services were held in the Congregational Church in Roberts, Wednesday, February 25th, 1942 at2:30 o'clock. Rov. ernest R. Akin, the pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in Lyman Cemetery.

The casket bearers were Charles Wright, Otto Seng, Russell Frazee, George Wallis, Harry Kenward, and George Haling. The flower bearers were Mrs. May Kristofferson, Mrs. Lora Yackee, Mrs. Pearl Whorrell, Mrs. Agnes Woolsoncroft, and Mrs. Blanche Van Nice.

Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Reinold Ruedger and grandson, Leo Ruedger of Carson city, Michigan, Harry Kenward of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. George Wallis, Mr. and Mrs.Russell Frazee, Mr.and Mrs. W.Havens of Thawville, George Haling and Clyde Stankey of Peoria, Dr. and Mrs. F. M. Blome, Mrs.Wayne Arthur and son, Stephen, of Kenney.

Parley J. Foster, Pioneer Resident of Roberts, Dies

Roberts,Feb.14--(RNS)--
Parely John Foster,83,pioneer resident of Robergts,passed away at 9:30 a.m. Monday in his home in Roberts following an extended illness of heart disease.

A son of Eliab and Martha Clark Foster, Mr. Foster was born in Salem, Wis. in December, 1858. He had been a resident of Roberts since he was seven years old.

Mr. Foster was married in 1906 to Anna Bingham. Surviving are two children: Dwayne, Topeka, Kan., and Mrs. Fern West, Arlington Va., two grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. R. L. Ruedger, Carson City, Michl, and Miss Leda Foster, Roberts.

A contractor and builder for many years, Mr. Foster constructed many buildings in this village and community. During the last years of his life he was retired from active work. Quiet and unassuming in nature yet always ready to be of assistance to his friends in time of need, Mr. Foster enjoyed the respect of all who knew him. In his death one of the veterans of the village has been removed.
