Click on the little icon that looks like a little man with a plus sign. Click on the image above to open a larger image. This will open a window like the one above. Here you can pick who this new person is in relation to the current focus person. Our new person is unrelated, so click on the button that says UNRELATED. You will be asked what is the sex of this new person. Our new person will be a Male. The next thing we need to do is SETUP our add person window to add all the tags we want to add at one time. Click on the button that says SETUP. This will open the Add person Template window. This is the window we can decide what tags will be created every time we add a new person. You can have it add name tags, birth and death tags, marriage tags, or only a name tag. For each tag, you can then decide what information will be shown for that tag. The choices are: the role, sort date, date, place levels, and memo. The main use of this window is to add all the tags that are sourced by a specific source. This source will be attached to every tag, so be very careful what tags you choose. Then click on the FLAGS tab. Here you can add any flags that you want to set for this person. Once
these are set, click OK. TMG
will add an ID number for you. You can then add his name, birth date
and place, his death date and place, etc. There are 5 boxes with the letters 1, 2, D, P, M, beside each tag. These stand for the person in the P1 place, the person in the P2 place, the Date, the Place, and the Memo. This is where you will put the surety for these tags. You can use different sureties for each tag. So if our source is his death certificate, you might use a 3 for the death date and place, but only a 2 for the birth date and place. Now it's time to add our citation. Click on the + sign to add a citation that will be attached to all these tags. Once you click okay, all these tags with this citation and the sureties you set will be created. If you don't understand how to add a citation, I will explain it in another tutorial. :) Once your source is added, click OK and it will take you to the Person View (PV) of this new person. You will see his name, and the new tags you created. In the M field- there will be a check mark if you have written a Memo for any of the tags. In the S field-there will be a check mark in the Source field. And your sureties will be in the 12DPM field. Now you can start the process over again and add his wife and then children. Have fun! :) |
