There are also death records available 1914 - 1925 by the county. 1926 to

1951 is by the state. You can only research up to 1951, anything after that

date, you have to get from the Vital Statistics Office (which is right down the

street), and cost 6 or 7 dollars each. (Teresa's note:  I believe they now have up to 1952)

The delayed birth records are on an index, and I have found to be a wonderful

source of information; however, they are HARD to read, and sometimes

impossible to read. When you cannot read the birth certificate number, it

makes it difficult to find the actual birth certificate. The birth records

past 1900 are not available. In some cases they are listed on the index.

The only other recommendation is to KNOW the soundex code for the last name

(or names) you are researching.
