WHIDDEN on Rootsweb

This is my genealogy home on Rootsweb. Since webjump and angelfire took my sites offline, this is my only home on the web. I'll be shortly moving over the info from those two sites to this one.

Names I am following are Whidden, Whitten, Whiddon, Whyddon, Witten and other variations.

The lines I am aware of are Whidden that came from Portsmouth, England to Portsmouth, NH before 1662. The Whitten spelling is used in this line. As well, work by several researchers has added many new cousins from the John/NH line. A second line settled in VA and migrated to the Carolinas, GA and FL.

One descendant moved from NH to NS, about 1760, and from both locations descendants have settled throughout Canada and the USA.
The latest development involve DNA testing, both y-DNA for Whidden and variations and mt-DNA for my maternal ancestors who are traced to former Karelia, Finland in middle to late 1800s now in western Russia.
