Filipow Barszczewski Family History

Filipow parish records go back as far as 1808 and were put on microfilm by the LDS Church.  This family history is based upon actual parish church records.  Research is very limited to date with only Rozalia Barszczewski(1768-1818).  The family Barszczewski is still common in this area.  I have been in contact with Barszczewski family.  Personal verbal family history passed down indicates that the Barszczewski family owned a very large estate that included the town of Jemieliste and the village of Miodoborze.  Also, I was also told that Barszczewski is mentioned in a book and this family name is known to have been in the area since at least 1630.

Another interesting record of my Barszczewski lineage is the November 23, 1814 marriage of Antoni Samotyha to Rozalia Sarosiek.  There is a second document that was created in order to perform the marriage ceremony.  This was a birth document for Rozalia Sarosiek.  In this document, it lists the attending godparents at the birth/baptism as Dominus Tadeusz Barszczewski and Domina Magdalena Barszczewska.  Although not verified to date, they are believed to be Rozalia's grandparents.  The term Dominus and Domina are used to refer to middle class of nobility.
