Polish Roots

Welcome to my Polish heritage.  My research these days is spent primarily in a darkened room peering over seemingly endless frames of microfilm.  These pages bear the fruit of my family tree.  Each family surname traced to its original church parish records will appear here as research is concluded.  Here you can learn of the towns and villages in particular church parishes, parish histories, church photos, surname histories, and generations of family trees.  During my research, I have jotted down hundreds of notes that may possibly be related cousins.  Now turn the key of time and meet my ancestors.

Polish Nowacki Lineage

Seven known children and their mother immigrated to the US from the years of 1885 thru 1895 from the Nowacki family.  My investigation of marriage records in St. Stanislaus Kostka church turned up a common village parish in Poland and both parents, who were Vincent Nowacki and Magdalena Molach.  They came from a town six miles east of Poznan, Poland.  That town and parish is known as Swarzedz.  The links below will tell you more of what my research has found.

The following link is a wonderful site that I have just discovered on Swarzedz.  It has over 100 photos taken in the early 1900's.  This site is in Polish and translates well using the Google translator.  This link takes you directly to a page containing 50 old photos.  You may wish to visit and bookmark this site as it has much more to offer.

Polish Zlotorzynski Lineage

Three known siblings immigrated to the US from the years of 1875 thru 1894 from the Zlotorzynski family.  My investigation turned up a common village parish in Poland and both parents, who were Jabob Zlotorzynski and Izabella Lucyna Samotyha.  They came from a town twenty miles northwest of Suwalki, Poland.  That town and parish is known as Filipow.  Also, in the last couple years, a distant cousin ran across this site.  This cousin already had done research in Filipow.  His research notes greatly helped me with my research.  It is always mutually beneficial when family related genealogists link together.  Finally, another researcher into the Zlotorzynski line found thirty miles north in Lithuania show some Zlotorzynski family as wheelwrights.  It is believed that these two Zlotorzynski lines may be related, but no documentation has been found to verify this.  The links below will tell you more of what research has found in Filipow parish.

Polish Andrykowski Lineage

Two siblings immigrated to the US in the years of 1882 thru 1889 from the Andrykowski   family.  My investigation of marriage records in St. Stanislaus Kostka church in Chicago turned up a village parish in Poland and both parents, who were Valentine Andrykowski and Sophia Spichalski.  They came from a town in the northern Kujawsko-Pomorskie province in Poland.  That town and parish is known as Byslaw.  Another document, a German child custody court order dated 1889, was stumbled upon by American research.  This document was found in the file hidden for over 100 years in the file of a descendant who became a nun in the Catholic church.  The court order mentioned the town of Kozlowo, a town about 50 miles ESE of Byslaw.  The links below will tell you more of what my research has found.

Polish Rydzkowski Lineage

My great grandfather immigrated to the US in 1880 and settled in Chicago.  My investigation of marriage records in St. Stanislaus Kostka church in Chicago turned up a village parish in Poland and both parents, who were listed as Pawel Rydzkowski and Maryan Chmara.  They came from a town in the northern Kujawsko-Pomorskie province in Poland.  That town and parish is known as Cekcyn.  The links below will tell you more of what my research has found.  This is the basic Cekcyn Rydzkowski lineage.
