Daniel ROOKLEY was summoned by Annie IRWIN for assaulting her on the 15th inst. - The complainant stated that on the night in question she met the defendant on the road leading from Ponchydown to Kentisbeare, when he assaulted her and pushed her into the hedge. - The defence was that the complainant abused the defendant's wife and called her names, and thus provoked the defendant. - The Bench inflicted a penalty of 1s. and the expenses.
