CLYST HYDON.


The Dons went to Cove on Saturday, and won by 2 goals to 1.

On Ash Wednesday a service was held in the Parish Church, the schoolchildren attending. An evening service was also held. The Rector (Rev. C. SHERWIN) officiated at each service. The Rector is holding services in the church on Wednesdays during Lent.

The funeral took place at Clyst Hydon, last week, of Mr. Albert Edward HAWKINS, of Pratts Cottage, Clyst Hydon, who passed away at Ivybank Hospital. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. HAWKINS, the bereaved widow, who is left with six young children, the eldest of whom is fourteen and the youngest one year. Deceased was for many years in the employ of Mr. Ira BAKER, of Whitley Close, Hele, and was of a bright and cheery disposition. The funeral was attended by several sympathisers and friends. The service was conducted by the Rector (Rev. C. SHERWIN). The principal mourners were Masters Albert and William HAWKINS (sons), Mr. and Mrs. HAWKINS (father and mother), Mr. H. HAWKINS and Mrs. H. SALTER (brother and sister), Mr. S. HAWKINS and Mrs. E. MARTIN (brother and sister), Mr. H. SALTER and Mrs. H. HAWKINS (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. C. GLANVILLE (father-in-law and mother-in-law), Mr. C. GLANVILLE, junr., and Mrs. LANE (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Miss L. GLANVILLE and Mrs. A. GOFF (sisters-in-law), Masters Cecil and Peter GLANVILLE (brothers-in-law). Others present included Mr. and Mrs. T. HILL, Mrs. BOARD, Miss E. BOARD, Mrs. HELLIER, Miss N. BLACKMORE, Mrs. BISHOP, Mrs. BELLAMY, Mrs. H. GLANVILLE, and many others. The bearers were Messrs. F. GOFF, junr. V. LANE, C. COLES and H. MITCHELL. The coffin was of polished elm, and the breastplate bore the inscription: “Albert Edward Hawkins, died 28th February, 1935, aged 38 years.” Beautiful floral tokens were sent by relatives and friends. The grave was beautifully lined with spring flowers and evergreens by relatives of the late Mr. HAWKINS. The widow was prevented from attending through illness. Feeling references were made to deceased by the Rector in his sermon on Sunday.
