KENTISBEARE.

At the Parish Church on Saturday, the wedding took place of Thomas, second son of Thos. HUTCHINGS, of Newton St. Cyres, and Rose Elizabeth, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. RICHARDS, of Court, Kentisbeare. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Leading Seaman F. J. RICHARDS, R.N., was neatly attired in biege rep, with hat to match, and carried an ivory Prayer-book instead of a bouquet. The best man was Mr. Wm. HUTCHINGS (brother of bridegroom). Rev. E. S. CHALK (Rector) officiated. The happy couple are remaining in the village for a few days, after which they will leave for their new home at Newton St. Cyres.

The subject of a Village Hall has been in the minds of a good many parishioners, particularly Major and Mrs. DASHWOOD. The sum of £200 has been subscribed or promised, and it is hoped that in the near future some definite steps will be taken in the direction of a fulfilment of this desire.

HOWE, uncle and aunt; Mr. Arthur LANE, cousin. Among those present were school children from Blackborough, in charge of Mrs. CHICK (school mistress), Mesdames AYRES, F. RADFORD, ROOKLEY, STONEMAN, Mr. TOM and Miss J. RADFORD (Pouchydown Inn, Blackborough), Miss BAKER, Miss F. RADFORD, Messrs. A. LANE, L. CORDING, P. LANE, and J. TRUMP. The coffin was of polished elm, and he breastplate was inscribed “Cecil E. Young, died February 13th, 1928, aged 13 years.”

The second funeral was that of William POTTER, who died the previous Thursday after a brief illness, although he had been unable to work for over a year. A farm labourer, 64 years of age, he had worked at Aller and Newlands practically all his life. He was of a genial disposition, greatly respected, both in private and working life. The immediate mourners were Mrs. POTTER (widow), Mr. E. KERSLAKE (son-in-law), Mrs. KERSLAKE, Mr. A.
