CULLOMPTON.

PETTY SESSIONS, MONDAY. - Before C. R. COLLINS, Esq. (in the chair), T. TURNER, and H. WALROND, Esqrs.

Charles ROSSITER, for having been drunk at Burlescombe, on the 14th instant, was fined 20s., including costs. - James ROOKLEY, of Kentisbeare, convicted of trespassing in search of game, on lands in the occupation of Henry BROOM, on the 22nd February, was fined 40s., including costs. Richard SEARLE, brought up in custody, charged with stealing a chisel and two punches, value 6s. 6s., the property of fellow workmen, on the works of the new Tiverton and North Devon Railway, was fined 20s., or a fortnight's imprisonment with hard labour. - Charles WEBBER, a labourer, was charged with stabbing Robert DAVEY, at Silverton, on Sunday evening, the 20th instant. It appeared that the parties, with some others, had been drinking at the Ruffwell Inn, Silverton, on the night in question, and upon leaving to go home, about nine o'clock, a scuffle took place between prosecutor and prisoner, in the course of which the latter drew his knife and stabbed DAVEY in the back, inflicting a wound about half-an-inch long. Prisoner was committed for trial at the next Quarter Sessions at Exeter, bail being allowed – himself in £40, and two sureties of £20 each. - Thomas VINNICOMBE, railway labourer, Silverton, charged with stealing three fowls, value 9s., the property of John CORNELL, a farmer, on the 15th February, was found guilty, and fined £2, including costs, or in default fourteen days' imprisonment, with hard labour.
