INQUESTS IN BRISTOL.

YESTERDAY. - Before Mr H. S. WASBROUGH, Coroner.

SUDDEN DEATH OF A CHILD. - At the Mason's Arms, Avon Street, Temple, relative to the death of Mary Jane TANXELL, aged eight years, daughter of a labourer, living at 3, Penny Court, Avon Street. On Tuesday morning the deceased was taken suddenly ill with the croup. A medical note was obtained by the mother, but the child died before the doctor came. A verdict that the deceased died suddenly from an attack of croup was returned.

THE FATAL ACCIDENT AT MR LYSAGHT'S WORKS. - At the General Hospital, concerning the death of Frederick UNCKLESS, aged 27, who had been employed at Mr. J. LYSAGHT's galvanising works, St. Philip's. Henry OATEN, foreman, in the employ of Mr. LYSAGHT stated that on Tuesday morning, hearing some metal fall in the store room, he went there, and found the deceased on the ground with several pieces of spelter upon him. The man was picked up and taken to the hospital, but died soon after admission to that institution. The deceased was the spelter storekeeper. The cakes of spelter were about 15 inches long and 9 inches wide, and weighed about 28 pounds each. They were piled up in stack to a height of 5 or 6 feet. The deceased was responsible for the safe keeping of all spelter. Among other injuries which he received through the accident was a fractured skull. No on was present when it took place. From the position in which the body was found, he should think that the deceased was in the act of weighing the metal, when the spelter fell on him. The jury said they were satisfied that the occurrence was accidental, and returned a verdict accordingly.
