FOUL PLAY IS RULED OUT

Failand Lane Death

SOMERSET police investigating the death of Ernest Albert OATEN 49-year-old garage proprietor, of Royal York Crescent, Clifton, Bristol, who was found lying dead by the side of his car in Stony Lane, Failand, yesterday morning, have ruled out any possibility of foul play.

The tragic discovery was made by 24-year-old John OATEN, who, after his father had failed to return home on Wednesday night, had scoured the countryside for over eight hours in search of him.

After driving most of the night he decided to go in the direction of a friend's house at Failand, and in Stony Lane, off Beggar's Bush Lane, he saw his father's car at the side of the road with its lights on . His father was lying on the ground at the nearside of it.

He informed the police and the body was taken to the mortuary.

The question of foul play was definitely ruled out after the Somerset Police had been given details of the post-mortem examination conducted by Dr. Crichton MacGAFFEY of Taunton.
