MINISTER'S DAUGHTER WEDS

MISS F. E. BETTS AND MR. RAYMOND HURFORD

CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH CEREMONY.


There was a large congregation at the Congregational Church on Wednesday at the wedding of Miss Florence Ellen BETTS, eldest daughter of Rev. H. E. BETTS and of Mrs. BETTS, The Manse, Wiveliscombe, and Mr. Raymond HURFORD, third son of Mr. and Mrs. J. HURFORD, of The Knoll, Park-lane, Minehead.

The bride's father, who is the popular minister of the church, officiated.

The service was fully choral, and as the bride entered the church the choir gave an effective rendering of a special setting of “Lead us, Heavenly Father.” Mr. G. Winston KNIGHT (organist and choir-master being at the organ. The hymn “O Love Divine and Golden” was sung during the service.

BRIDE IN WHITE.

Given away by her mother, the bride was attired in a dress of white crepe, with white tulle veil and wreath of white violets. Her bouquet was of violets.

She was attended by four small bridesmaids, Miss Pat TULLY (niece of the bride), Miss Maureen HURFORD (niece of the bridegroom), Miss Jane BAKER and Miss Caroline BODDINGTON (friends of the bride). They looked dainty figures in ankle-length dresses of white organdie over white crepe-de-chine. They carried beaded handbags, the gifts of the bridegroom.

The bride's mother wore a maroon crepe marocain dress, with sable fur and hat and shoes to match. The bridegroom's mother dress was of black velvet.

Mr. Richard HURFORD accompanied his brother as “best man.”

A reception, attended by many guests, was held at the bride's home, at which Mr. T. THORNE proposed the toast of “The Bride and Bridegroom.”

Later in the day the newly-married couple left for their honeymoon at Bournemouth, the bride travelling in a rust coloured costume with hat to match, Mr. and Mrs. HURFORD received numerous wedding gifts. They will reside at Knowle, Bristol.
