A CHETTISCOMBE BRIDE

MARRIAGE OF MR. F. J. VILE

The wedding took place at Chevithorne Church on Thursday of last week of Miss Gwendoline Mary NOTT, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. NOTT, of Albion Cottage, Chettiscombe, and Mr. Francis John VILE, youngest son of Mrs. VILE, of South Gate, Taunton and the late Mr. F. J. VILE, of Angersleigh, near Taunton. In the absence of the Vicar (the Rev. W. K. ROBERTS) on holiday, the Rev. L. G. CHAMBERLAIN (Rector of Bickleigh and Butterleigh) officiated.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin. Of slipper length, the corsage was close fitting, with a high neckline, and she wore a silk net veil and wreath of orange blossom. Her bouquet was of dark red roses and trailing springeri.

There were two bridesmaids. Miss B. NOTT (sister of the bride) wore an ankle-length dress of apple-green satin, a coronet of gold leaves on her hair, and gold shoes. She carried a bouquet of cream roses, and her gold dress ring was a gift from the bridegroom. The other bridesmaid, Miss Joyce SNOW (a cousin of the bride), was a little girl, dressed in maize satin, with puff sleeves. She wore on her hair a bandeau of the same material, with posies to tone, and black patent shoes. Her posy was of pink corn-flowers, and her gold bracelet a gift from the bridegroom. Master Denis John QUICK (nephew of the bride), the page boy, wore a suit of maize satin, with frilled sleeves and collar, and long trousers and black patent shoes. His gift from the bridegroom was a gold tie-pin. Mr. R. VILE (brother of the bridegroom) was “best man.”

The bride's mother was in navy blue marocain, with navy hat, and the bride-groom's mother in cornflower-blue marocain, with oyster satin collar, and hat to match her dress.

On leaving the church the bride was presented with silver horseshoes by Master John WHITTON (nephew of the bride), and Mrs. Brenda VILE (niece of the bridegroom).

Following a reception at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. VILE left for the honeymoon at Exmouth. The bride travelled in a London tan costume, with hat and bag to match, and brown suede shoes and handbag.
