LATE MR. FRED HAWKINS


The funeral took place on Monday of Mr. Fred HAWKINS, of Hillside, Combe-street, who died on Thursday last week, at the age of 54. Mr. HAWKINS, who leaves a wife, two sons and a daughter, was born at Whitestaunton. He had resided in Chard for some years, and had been closely identified with the Gospel Hall, Combe-street, where he was popular with the children as Sunday School superintendent, and he was a local preacher. He was employed by Messrs. DENING & Co. for 40 years as an iron moulder.

Mr. W. HAMMOND of the Gospel HALL, officiated at the funeral, and the Rev. J. WELLER (Baptist minister) also took part.

The family mourners were the wife: Rev. Wilfred G. HAWKINS, Dundee, and Mr. Sydney C. HAWKINS, Barrow (sons); Miss Lilian N. HAWKINS (daughter); Mr. Bert HAWKINS, Ynysybwl (brother); Mrs. HAWKINS, Dundee (daughter-in-law); Mrs. Louisa DOWN (aunt); Mr. and Mrs. C. WILLIAMS, Weston-super-Mare (nephew and niece); Mrs. J. FOLLETT, Taunton, and Mrs. N. FOLLETT (sisters-in-law); Mr. H. FOLLETT (brother-in-law); and Mr. EDWARDS? (Gittisham).
