£500 AWARD

COMPENSATION FOR TAUNTON BUTCHER

Agreed compensation of £500 and costs in full settlement of his claim was awarded by Judge THESIGER at Taunton County Court on Monday to William Thomas THRESHER (39), butcher, of Byeways, Lower Henlade, who received a foot injury in July, 1940, when working for Messrs. A. G. BOWERMAN, Ltd., wholesale butchers, Upper High-street, Taunton.

At the previous Court it was stated that £275 had been offered in final settlement, but the Registrar (Mr. H. G. Derwent MOGER) and the Judge considered this amount inadequate. The case, therefore, was adjourned, pending a further examination of the injured foot.

When Mr. WILLMOTT on behalf of Messrs. BOWERMAN offered £500 on Monday, the Judge said he considered this was reasonable, and he recorded the agreement.
