LONG SUTTON
IN AID OF THE PRISONERS OF WAR FUND a dance organised by Mr. BROWN, of the Youth Club, was held at the School £4 was raised. The spot dance prize was won by Miss J. PATON, of Martock and Mr TRIMM, of Langport A.T.C. Mrs E. F. KING, of Binham, won a competition. The Rhythm Aces Dance Band played
LATE MR. AUSTIN SCRIVEN
The
funeral took place at Long Sutton of Mr. Austin SCRIVEN, of Upton
whose death took place in Bristol on February 3rd. Mr. SCRIVEN was
for many years sidesman at Long Sutton Church. He was held in great
esteem by many friends. He was 63.
The Vicar (Rev L. H. HALE)
officiated, and Miss G. BENNETT was organist. Mourners were:- Mrs.
Austin SCRIVEN (wife), Mr. and Mrs. D. FRECKNALL, Southampton
(son-in-law and daughter), Misses Betty and Sylvia SCRIVEN
(daughters), Messrs. Victor and Ivor SCRIVEN (sons) Mr. and Mrs. Jack
GIBBS, Charlton Mackrell (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. Arthur
SCRIVEN, Somerton Hill (brother), Mrs. K. PYM and Mr. F. SCRIVEN,
Upton (niece and nephew), Mrs. L. WILLMOT (Bristol) and Mrs. H. COX,
Yeovil (cousins). Mr. Harold and Mr. Geoffrey SCRIVEN (sons) were
unable to attend as they are on active service overseas.
The bearers were Mr. Fred BIRD (Upton), Mr. M. HUNT, Mr. F. COX, and Mr. E. HARVEY (Long Sutton). The choir was in attendance, and favourite hymns of Mr. SCRIVEN were sung.
The floral tributes included one from the Vicar churchwardens, and sidesmen of the Long Sutton Church.
