Double Wedding at St. James', Taunton

The twin sons of Mr. and the late Mrs. E. SALWAY, of 49, Alfred-street, Taunton, were married at a double ceremony in St. James' Church on Saturday morning.

They were Mr. Howard Edward SALWAY, who married Miss Vera Mary BLACKMORE, 51, Alfred-street, the youngest daughter of Mrs. BLACKMORE, of 70, Fox-road, Bristol 2, and Mr. William John SALWAY, who was married to Miss Barbara OATEN, only daughter of Mr. E. C. OATEN, of 26, Albermarle-road, Taunton.

The Vicar (the Rev. Edwin HIRST) officiated, and Mr. C. Douglas HILL was at the organ. The hymns, “Lead us Heavenly Father, lead us” (processional) and “Love Divine all loves excelling,” were sung. Messrs. BURSTON and OATEN were ushers. The best men were Messrs. Edward and Jack OATEN.

Miss BLACKMORE, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Richard BLACKMORE, was dressed in an ivory lace frock, and full-length veil headdress, and carried a bouquet of pink roses in full shower.

Her cousin, Miss Betty SMITH, of Dorchester, was bridesmaid, and wore a floral design frock, with rose-colour background, and blue headdress. She carried a bouquet of sweet peas.

The dresses of the bride and bridesmaid were designed and created by Miss Doris OATEN, of Taunton.

The bride's going away dress was a turquoise blue two-piece suit, and turquoise hat, white lace blouse, and white accessories.

Miss OATEN's dress was of moss crepe white silk net, based on a mediaeval style. The dress and headdress was embroidered with gold beads. She carried a full shower bouquet of cream roses.

The bridesmaid was Miss Joan SKINNER, who wore a turquoise moss crepe dress, trimmed with lace of the same colour. She also wore a lace headdress, and carried a posy.

The bride's travelling dress was a royal blue two-piece, with white blouse with black accessories.

The double wedding reception at Deller's Cafe was attended by 100 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Howard SALWAY are spending their honeymoon at Lynton, and Mr. and Mrs. William SALWAY at Newquay.
