Postman Sweeps The Board

Wins Creech Show Cup Outright

Over 600 Entries

The most successful prize-winner at Creech St. Michael flower show on Thursday was Mr. W. DERRICK, the village postman. For the third successive year he won the cottagers' challenge cup, which now becomes his property. He was also awarded the Colonel Peace silver tankard for the open section. Mr. DERRICK had 16 first prizes.

The Rusbridge rose bowl for the produce classes was won for the second year by Miss E. M. DAY.

The prize offered by the President (Mr. W. R. GREENSHIELDS) for the best individual exhibit was won by the Chairman (Capt. C. F. BUSH, R.N.), with a magnificent vase of sweet-peas.

The judges were Mr. S. COOKSLEY and Mr. G. PRICE (vegetables, fruit and flowers), Mrs. BUSH (decorative), Miss ROBINSON (produce), and Mrs. HEDDERWICK (eggs).

There were 650 entries from Creech, Henlade, Ruishton, Thornfalcon and Ham.

The show secretary was Mrs. C. K. MUCKLOW.

The show was opened by Lady SLADE, and this year, for the first time, a children's pony gymkhana was an additional attraction.

There were also stalls, sideshows and skittling, but on a smaller scale than had been intended because of the showery weather.
