Rumwell Farm Sold In Six Lots

Ritherdens Farm, Rumwell, of about 52 acres, which has been owned by the late Mr. Tom BEVIS and his son for between 40 and 50 years, was sold by auction in six lots by Messrs. W. R. J. GREENSLADE & Co. at the Wyndham Hall, Taunton, on Saturday.

The farm house, buildings, and 29 acres realised £5,700 and were bought by Messrs. W. J. VENN & Sons, Bishops Hull. An enclosure of arable land, with potentially valuable frontages extending to about 18½ acres, was bought by Mr. M. G. WHITE, of Kingston St. Mary, for £3,800. An orchard was bought for £650 by Mr. MURLESS and accommodation land with farm buildings – 11½ acres – by Mr. WHITE for £1,850. Accommodation meadow and pasture land, with a small orchard – about 10¾ acres – was bought for £1,600 by Messrs. A. J. BAKER & Sons, who also purchased 9½ acres of accommodation and meadow land for £1,250.

After the sale of the Rumwell property 16½ acres of grazing land at Roughmoor, Taunton, was sold to Mr. A. G. BIFFEN for £2,150.
