FIVEHEAD

THE BAPTIST PASTOR'S FAREWELL – The Rev. E. FRANCIS, who has for the past six years acted as pastor of the Baptist Chapels at Fivehead and Isle Abbots, has left for Exeter, where he has undertaken the pastorate of Bartholomew-street Chapel. Mr. FRANCIS has done excellent work during his residence at Fivehead. His services as a preacher have been very acceptable. He has been a valued member of the Langport District Technical Committee, and has rendered much assistance as honorary clerk to the Fivehead Burial Board, while his energies have been expended in various other ways for the benefit of the community. The meeting at which farewell was taken of him was largely attended, and was presided over by the Rev. B. W. OSLER, a former pastor of the chapel. - Mr. B. BICKNELL, on behalf of the congregations of Fivehead and Isle Abbots, presented Mr. FRANCIS with a cheque and a very handsome illuminated address framed in oak. This spoke in very high terms of Mr. FRANCIS's work. - Mr. FRANCIS, in returning thanks, said he was not leaving for any monetary advantage, but because he thought that Exeter would furnish a wider sphere of work. - The Burial Board, of which the Vicar is chairman, have passed a resolution expressive of the value of Mr. FRANCIS's services.
