PRESENTATION TO MR. W. J. VENNER. - Mr. W. J. VENNER, one of the foremen at the Taunton Manufacturing Company's Works, was last week the recipient of a very handsome present from the employees in his department. The gift was a spontaneous expression on the part of those employed in the collar laundry and the polishing department of their goodwill towards the head of that department, Mr. VENNER, who was taken quite by surprise. The form taken by the presentation was an extremely handsome writing desk, fitted completely throughout with the necessary stationery and other articles, a gold scarf pin, and a sovereign case. The desk bore the inscription: “Presented to Mr. W. J. VENNER as a small token of their respect and esteem by the employees of the collar laundry and polishing department. July 19, 1899.”
