DEATH OF MR. J. B. MALE.

The death occurred on Thursday at his residence, The Crescent, Taunton, at the age of 78 years, of Mr. Joseph Bond MALE. Mr. MALE, who was a native of Barrington, received his early education at St. Mark's College, Chelsea, and for a number of years he was headmaster of Long Sutton Elementary School. He eventually obtained the post of headmaster of Holy Trinity School, Taunton, which position he held for over 40 years. Mr. MALE was always a very keen musician, and under his personal supervision the children of Holy Trinity gained distinction in open musical competitions. Upon his retirement some few years ago he was the recipient of a presentation from the parishioners and scholars of Holy Trinity.

For a considerable time Mr. MALE had held the position of churchwarden, previous to which he was a sidesman for a number of years. Educational matters always gained his interest, and he represented the teachers on the local Education Committee. As a member of the Taunton Bowling Club, the Taunton Rugby Club, and the Conservative Club, Mr. MALE gained a wide circle of friends. He was especially keen on introducing sporting activities into the parish of Holy Trinity. Gardening was his principal hobby, and he did much clever work in this direction while living at The Shrubbery, Mansfield-terrace, Taunton. A widow, one daughter, and four sons are left to mourn their loss. The funeral took place on Saturday.
