LATE MR. JAMES TROTT.

RUISHTON FUNERAL

TRIBUTE TO RESPECTED PARISHIONER.

The funeral of Mr. James Ernest TROTT took place at Ruishton Parish Church on Saturday, when tributes were paid to a parishioner whose long association with all activities of the village, including the Cricket Club and Parish Church, had won for him the respect and admiration of a large circle of friends.

Mr. TROTT had for many years been in business as a pork butcher at Ruishton and in the Taunton Market. In the village he was very popular as the energetic and efficient secretary of the Ruishton and Henlade Cricket Club, a post which he resigned only a few years ago. At the same time he relinquished his post as churchwarden, which he had occupied for many years, and a handsome presentation was made to him on that occasion.

FUNERAL TRIBUTES.

A large number of villagers and friends from other parts of the district were present at the funeral service, and all along the route from Maythorne, Mr. TROTT's residence, blinds were drawn as a mark of respect for the memory of one who had been so widely loved.

The service was conducted by the Rev. R. P. DUKE, and was attended by the choir, the hymn, “A few more years shall roll,” being sung. Mrs. DUKE was at the organ.

The interment took place in the new cemetery, Mr. TROTT being buried in the same grave as his wife, who died about two years ago. The grave was beautifully lined with evergreens, white carnations, and pink and white stocks.

The brass breastplate of the plain oak coffin bore the inscription:- “James Ernest Triscombe Trott, died June 17th, 1935, aged 68 years.”

The coffin was borne by Messrs. K. WITCOMBE, F. BLACKMORE, J. HUSSEY, and H. S. COX.
