WEDDINGS AT WELLINGTON.

TANCOCK – OATEN.

The wedding took place at All Saints' Church, Wellington, on Saturday, of Mr. Douglas Robert TANCOCK, the youngest surviving son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. TANCOCK, of Hawthorn Cottage, Wellington, and Miss Margery Nora OATEN, the only daughter of the late Mr. Frederick OATEN, of Taunton and Cardiff, and Mrs. OATEN, of 21, Mitchell-street, Wellington. The service was conducted by the Rev. A. P. ALLAN, vicar of All Saints.

The hymns sung were “Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven.” and “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us.”

The bride, who was given away by her uncle Mr. E. HOOKWAY, of Seymour-street, Wellington, wore a dress of ivory windswept velvet with a veil of Limerick lace lent by a friend. She carried a sheaf of red roses.

Her bridesmaid was Miss Molly GIBBS, who wore a gown of red crepe satin with a wreath of silver leaves, and carried a sheaf of white and red chrysanthemums.

Mr. Philip GLASS was “best man.”

The bride's mother's dress was of black silk and lace, while the bridegroom's mother was attired in a dress of black floral silk with furs.

As a souvenir the bridesmaid received a gift of cut glass from the bridegroom.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at Shapland's Hotel, attended by about fifty guests. Later in the day Mr. and Mrs. TANCOCK left for their honeymoon, which is being spent at Sidmouth. The bride travelled in a tweed swagger costume, trimmed with brown velvet and a brown velvet hat, with shoes and gloves to match.

There were over fifty handsome and useful wedding gifts.
