CORSCOMBE
FOUND DEAD IN BED
VILLAGE LOSES OLDEST INHABITANT
A verdict of “Death from natural causes” was returned at the inquest, held at Corscombe on Friday on Mrs. Elizabeth MALE, 96, the oldest inhabitant of the village, who was found dead in bed at her daughter's home, Weston Manor Farm, Corscombe.
The inquiry was conducted by the Deputy-Coroner for West Dorset, Mr. J. THOMAS-DAVIES.
Mrs. Amelia MALE said her mother had lived with her and her husband for the last five and a half years. Until last week she had been in quite good health, but on Saturday complained of not feeling well. Her mother remained in bed over the weekend and seemed a little better. Witness said she saw her mother at 1.30 a.m. on Tuesday. At 6.30 a.m. the same day she found her dead in bed.
Dr. H. A. LAKE, of Beaminster, said death was due to senile decay, hastened by influenza or an influenzal cold.
The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, at Barrington, Somerset, where Mrs. E. MALE's husband, who died nearly 50 years ago, was buried.
