CREECH ST. MICHAEL.

DEATH FROM AN ACCIDENT. - On Tuesday an inquest was held by Mr. MUNCKTON, at the hospital, on the body of Charles HARVEY, a lad, eleven years of age, who met with an accident by one of his arms being caught in a machine for crushing oil-cake, whilst at work for his master, Mr. COOMBE, of Creech St. Michael. Mr. LIDDON removed the mangled limb, but the poor fellow did not survive the operation. A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.

FIVEHEAD

Mr. B. W. OSLER, late of Wellington, Somerset, has accepted the invitation of the Baptist Church of Fivehead and North Cary <sic> to become their pastor. He commenced his duties here on Sunday last, when he preached two very impressive sermons.

ACCIDENT. - On Tuesday last, a little boy named George STUCKEY, about ten years of age, the son of Mr. William STUCKEY, teazle merchant, of Fivehead, was in the loft, in the company with the carter, Fred. HALLETT, who was cutting chaff, when he put his hand upon the machine, and it was drawn between the cogs, which entirely crushed his thumb. The carter immediately stopped the machine, and medical aid was obtained. We are glad to hear that, under the treatment of Dr. HOUGHAM, the sufferer is progressing favourably.

A CHILD FOUND DEAD. - E. C. GARLAND, Esq., deputy-coroner, held an inquest at the Halfway Inn, on Saturday, touching the death of Elizabeth INDOE, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth INDOE, aged about eleven weeks, who was found dead in bed on the 5th inst. Mr. Aaron LARCOMBE was chosen foreman of the jury. Elizabeth INDOE, mother of the deceased, said when she awoke about seven o'clock on Sunday morning she found the child dead in her arms. The child had been ill previously, and witness had obtained medicine for her from the parish surgeon about a fortnight before she died. Deceased had been unhealthy from the time of her birth. As soon as she (witness) discovered that the child was dead, she told her husband, and he called Mary GILLETT; as she could not come, he fetched Maria SQUIRE, who came at once. Maria SQUIRE stated that on going to the house she found the child dead. The jury returned a verdict of “Found dead.”
